Houston, I assume you have moved the rocket to the pad?

I have not spoken about how the Simply American book project is progressing for quite a while, so I thought I would issue an update.  Four of the approximately twelve chapters have been written and edited.  I will be featuring about seventeen firms making wonderful consumer goods in this country located in Seattle, Wisconsin, New York, Massachusetts, West Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and California.  I am planning four trips over the next four months to visit all or a majority of these firms.  I am putting the finishing touches on my book proposal and hope to begin shopping it to agents within the next few weeks.

I am also excited because my trusty camera man Johnathan Iishi and I are going to be shooting a video at McKinnon Furniture’s factory this week that will feature me trying to create a piece of furniture from the McKinnon Furniture collection without cutting off any of my extremities.  Calmer heads will probably prevail and I will only watch one of the McKinnon craftsman/craftswoman do the skillful work of making McKinnon’s fine American furniture.  We should have that video up on the blog within the next few weeks.  Thanks again to everyone who is visiting and especially following the blog.  All the best, John
