If you have been reading this blog for the last few months, you know I have written plenty of posts critical of Apple’s labor practices and its steadfast commitment to outsourcing the assembly of its products. But I am a powder puff compared to Clyde Prestowitz, president of the Economic Strategy Institute. Mr. Prestowitz titled his discussion of Apple and its Foxconn labor problems in Foreign Policy, “Does anyone at Apple have a soul?” Wow, that seems a bit harsh. I am sure that lots of people at Apple have a soul, it is just a very “profits above most everything else” type of soul. Mr. Burns comes to mind. Speaking of Mr. Burns, my five favorite Mr. Burns quotes are
1. “Alright wage donkeys”
2.”Release the hounds”
3.”I want to die quietly on my own term crushing as many of those baby sea turtles as I possibly can.”
4.Guard: “It’s time for a cavity search.”
Mr. Burns: “Oh, I haven’t cavity in forty years.”
Guard: “I wasn’t talking about your teeth.”
Mr. Burns: “Nor was I.”
5. Mr. Burns: Men, there’s a little crippled boy sitting in a hospital who wants you to win this game. I know because I crippled him myself to inspire you.
Milhouse: (to his mom and dad) I hope they win, or Mr. Burns said he’s coming back.
Ya gotta love Mr. Burns. If you have other great Mr. Burns quotes, please leave me a comment with the quote.
