All together now!

Reviving our consumer goods manufacturing sector is going to be a group effort.

I am trying to play my part.

You are playing your part.

And now, MSNBC is playing their part.

Over the last few weeks, MSNBC is really going all out to promote products made by members of our extended American family.  They have done stories on several of the companies I have featured in the blog, Fairway Fox female golf apparel, and a survey of the best of American made fashion brands.

Getting the Made in America message out is important in my eyes.  I am not sure if a majority of Americans will ever adopt my approach of “I buy American unless I have a compelling reason not to do so.”  There are probably some dyed in the wool free traders who will never consider buying American goods since it would conflict with their respect for the “invisible hand.”  That is ok by me.  Every little bit will help those unemployed members of our extended American family that want to work and would work if a job in manufacturing became available due to increased demand for American made apparel, shoes, tools, and other consumer goods.  So I am confident that even if a minority of Americans decide to make buying American a new ethic in their life, our country and its citizens will be the better for it.

I found this quote and just love it.  I hope you like it as well.

”We are either a united people, or we are not. If the former, let us, in all matters of general concern act as a nation, which has national objects to promote, and a national character to support. If we are not, let us no longer act a farce by pretending to it.”

George Washington, November 30, 1785

Employment for its citizens has always been a matter of primary concern to the American nation.  Since our founding, America has been a nation that has made things.  Making things is an integral part of our national character.  Waves of immigrants came to this country in order to find employment in manufacturing, in order to better their and their families economic condition.  I am energized each day to try to play my part, albeit in a very small way, in promoting our steadfast national objective of providing employment for members of our extended American family.

  1. I love your George Washington quote. One time that this did not hold true was when the South seceded from the Union, the second time, is when the G.O.P. (really they should be called the Retro party – trying to change things back to 1950) by not promoting American economic growth or buying US products – all of this, in order to keep the economy stagnant so they would have a better chance of electing one of their own, a 1 per center. -Jack A
