Well, I have lots of goods made by members of your extended American family to tell you about. So, in no particular order, here we go.
Goruck makes all sorts of great packs, dufflebags, wallets and other assorted good. I really like their gr1 bag. And who doesn’t love labs?
aftcra’s mission is to allow local American crafters to grow and hire more members of our extended American family by putting the wonderful goods they are making before a larger market. The aftcra site has categories you can review of different types of American made consumer goods. A few choices I like are cool reclaimed wood clocks, and the bio hazard lunch bag.
Topsiders all around!
That most preppy of shoes, the boat shoe, is also quintessentially American. Just in time for you next holiday in Bar Harbor or the Hamptons, you should pick up boat shoes made by members of your extended American family. Sperry is again making some of its Topsiders in Maine, so have at it. My favorite American shoe company, Allen Edmonds also makes smashing boat shoes in a panoply of colors.
So as the dog days of summer are upon us, I suggest you get outside, go hiking or stroll by the seashore or do whatever you do in the summer. But consider outfitting yourself in products made by members of our extended American family before your next summer outing. Before you know it, the leaves will be falling and the footballs will be flying.
Now get shopping!
Allen Edmonds is usually a sure bet, but not this time. All of their boat shoes are made in the Domincan Republic. Also, their Jack Nicklaus golf shoes are made outside the country, but I believe all of their other shoes are made in Wisconsin. -Jack A
Jack: Oops! I will do a mea culpa post within the next few days. Thanks for giving me the straight story.
All the best,
John
Never heard of aftcra before – looks like cool stuff I’ll have to check out!
